It is the same lot. The empty, grassed, state-owned parcel west of Providence Station fronting Francis and Gaspee streets, about 4.4 acres, the PVD Fan Zone during the 2026 World Cup, is the parcel RIPTA's board chose on August 20, 2026 for the new transit center. A separate parcel at 150 Francis Street is owned by Amtrak and was studied earlier; Park Row West, on the other side of the station, was Next Wave's higher-ranked site before the Francis Street lot was picked for its footprint.
